Discuss a project

Independent, and founder-led.

ALLOIC is a digital engineering and experience studio in Durham Region, Ontario, founded in October 2026 by Damian Mattey, P.Eng. This page is about how it thinks and who leads it.

From inside, the sign reads ‘Closed’. The street reads ‘Open’.

What the name means

A website can look finished from the desk that made it and still fail the person on a phone at ten at night. ALLOIC starts on their side of the glass.

The name comes from allo-, the Greek root for ‘other’, as in allocentric: oriented toward other people. It is the studio’s whole method: work out what the person on the other side needs to see and do, test it the way they will meet it, then design and engineer everything else around that.

That person changes from project to project. A customer deciding whether to call. A member signing in. A candidate studying for an exam. Someone in the office doing the same task for the hundredth time. The question doesn’t change: what does it look like from where they stand?

Checked from their side: the studio’s audit engine tapping through a fictional sample site on a phone, in real time.

How the studio works

  • Seen before it is sold.Work is shown running, on a private link, before anyone signs. For a website, that means a working homepage in the business’s own content.
  • Written, not sold.Email first, no sales calls. Reviews, proposals and answers arrive in writing, so they can be forwarded and checked.
  • One lead, start to finish. The person who writes the review designs and builds the project. Nothing is lost in a hand-off.
  • Every claim shows its method.A finding, a score or a figure says how it was measured. Concepts are labelled as concepts, and limits are written down.
  • Yours to keep. The domain is registered in the client’s name; the content, photos and code are the client’s to keep, move or hand to someone else.
  • People approve what goes out.Automation takes the repetitive work. Anything that speaks for a business is approved by a person first.

The founder

Damian Mattey, P.Eng., founded ALLOIC in 2026. He has built websites and digital projects since about 2014.

Engineering is the habit of asking what happens at the other end of a decision: who carries the load, where it gives way, what it costs. ALLOIC brings that habit to digital work: define the requirement, check the work against it the way its users will meet it, and record how it was checked. Damian leads every project personally, from the first review to launch.

Outside the studio he runs damianmattey.com , an interactive site built by hand in WebGL, home to Load Path and other experiments.

The P.Eng. is Damian’s personal professional credential, as a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario. ALLOIC designs and builds websites, software and automation; it does not provide professional engineering services.

Launched damianmattey.com, an interactive WebGL site, and NPPE Prep, a live study app for engineers.

  6. October 2026

Opened ALLOIC, with its own audit engine, the preview-first process and its first independent concepts.
